EXERCISE

1.                            He said, "What a lovely place it is!"
2.                            He said, "Alas! My father has died."
3.                            She said, "Alas! My son has failed."
4.                            Shariq said, "Hurrah! I have got the first prize."
5.                            He said, "Aha! I have won the scholarship."
6.                            He said, "May you prosper."
7.                            He said to me, "May you win the scholarship!"
8.                            He said to her, "May your brother get a scholarship!"
9.                            He said to me, "May you succeed!"
10.                       He said to the Headmaster, "I am not at fault, Sir!"
11.                       He said, "Hurrah! My father has come."
12.                       The Headmaster said, "How lucky I am!"
13.                       He said, "Oh! I am late."
14.                       The boys said, "Alas! we have lost the match."

Convert the following into Indirect Speech:

1.                            He says, "I will stand first in the class."
2.                            He said to me, "Your handwriting is bad."
3.                            She said to me, "Where are you going?"
4.                            I said to her, "Can you guess the time?"
5.                            Father said to me, "Don't go bare head in the sun."
6.                            Mahim will say, "I have done my work."
7.                            Ahmed said to her, "I will not come back."
8.                            He said to me, When will you go home?"
9.                            She said to me, "How many brothers have you?"
10.                       The teacher said, "Three and three make six."

Change the following into Direct Speech:

1.                            Rizwan a told me that she wrote a letter to her father.
2.                            He said that he had taught us English.
3.                            They said that they had a pen.
4.                            He said that he would be flying a kite that day.
5.                            He said to me that he had gone there the previous day.
6.                            She will say that she is writing a letter then.
7.                            They said that they had been playing cricket.
8.                            She said that they had been plucking flowers since morning.
9.                            The teacher said that the earth moves round the sun.
10.                       He said to me that he had gone there the previous day.

Change the form of Narration:

1.                            The teacher told the boys that honesty is the best policy.
2.                            Hanif said to me, "You can do this job".
3.                            The science teacher said, "The earth moves around the sun."
4.                            He told me that he would arrive at about midday.
5.                            He said, "I am very busy now."
6.                            The teacher said to Sarfaraz, "Will you show me your home work?"
7.                            Ahmed said to his sister, "I have bought a beautiful gift for you."
8.                            Bilal says, "Buy a pen for me".
9.                            "Who is at the door?" the father said to the servant.
10.                       I said to him, "I had been doing my duty."
11.                       You said that you were going to bazzar.
12.                       The teacher told me that I was weak in Urdu.
13.                       The teacher said to the boy, "Have you done your homework?
14.                       Hamd said to his father, "I am not going with you to the hills".

15.                       I requested him to lend me that book.
