Visit of Gorakh Hill Station

Gorakh (Urdu: گورکھ, Sindhi: گورک ) is a Hill Station of Sindh, Pakistan. It is situated at an elevation of 5,688 ft (1,734 m) surface of the earth, in the Kirthar Mountains, 94 kilometers (58 mi) northwest of Dadu city.

From Dadu city the top of Gorakh Hill is at a distance of 93 km. ... At kilometer marker 17 from Dadu, is a place called Johi which is a 'tehseel' of Dadu and at the distance of about 76 kms from Johi town of Dadu and the distance from Wahi Pandhi to Gorakh is 54km.  Gorakh Hill was first identified by the British rulers in 1860 to be developed into a Hill Station, but it was not until 1989 ... abandoned till 1993; In 1997-98, the construction of road from Wahi Pandhi to Gorakh (54 Kms) was started.

It was 8th of December 2018. I along with my friends, i.e. well know writer, philosopher, critic, and short story writer Mumtaz Mahar, and celebrated poet of blank verses and writer Chander Keswani, advocate Rashid Hussain Ghaloo, advocate Peer Hony, Imdad Khushik; reporter of 92 news channel, Altaf; reporter New news channel went to Wahi Pandhi Via Johi for Gorakh Hill Station by Potohar Jeep 4x4. Jeep was already arranged by our friend and host Sikander Ali Rustamani at Wahi Pandhi and another Parado was also arranged by his for luggage.

It was week end. The sun was almost setting in the cliffs. The number of vehicles crossed on the way towards the Zero Point. When we stopped at the 35 point, where the vehicles of the visitors make a halt to cool down the engines of the vehicles and passengers also refresh themselves by coming out of their transport. Majority of visitors were from various cities of Sindh but especially Karachi. But what we saw and felt while traveling, it is very much astonishing. The roads were completely damaged and destroyed. It was very dangerous and risky to continue the travel. It was pitch dark. There was row of polls but non of them was giving the light. Some of our friends were heisted to go ahead but the gallant driver Ahsan Ali Rustamani fully developed the confidence and encouraged us. There were no iron or cemented barriers fixed at the border of the edges of the road leading towards the Gorakh Hill Station.  It is worth mentioning here that there is no emergency hospital, clinic or even dispensary to provide the first add at all. One will not find any singly pharmacy on the way or even at the top. It is advised to the visitors to have themselves the necessary medicine, warm cloths, water for drinking, hand gloves, woolen capes, coats to completely save themselves from the chill. Further, there is only one restaurant. The edible and potables are very expensive.  The visitors, in order to save themselves from the chill, burnt the wooden logs, posts, and clubs and dried bushes to aflame the fire and were having Mach Kachhari.

Gorakh Hill station is suffering from non-availability of electricity, water, roads, and attention of the authorities concerned. It is thundering and roaring but no one hearing its cries and siblings. There is no one to console it. There is no one to wipe its tears. Though it is earning a huge amount of money but not a single penny is spent upon its health.

It is matter of fact that the Gorakh Hill Station is very mountainous, hilly and cliffy area. Very beautiful resort to enjoy the chill but alas! This beautiful cite is neglected completely, though it attracts the visitors, and they come from very far off but it is lacking from the fundamental necessities and due care is heeded, when one reaches the zero point, becomes disappointed over there finding nothing except the mountains, hills, stones, shrubs and broken roads. It is very attractive to nature-lovers owing to its temperate weather and beautiful surroundings. Gorakh's elevation gives it a special climate, with sub-zero temperatures during winter and generally below 20 °C in summer, with about 120 mm of average annual rainfall and snow fall in winters.
So it is time, the prime Minister of Pakistan is requested to have some time and visit and console the sorrows of the Gorakh Hill Station which is calling the attention of the authorities for a long time, otherwise, the visitors will be disappointed and no one will bother to even think about its visit ever, which will be very deplorable condition of the people of Sindh.
